Among Jacques Hitier’s tables, let’s focus in this chapter on one of his most memorable table: Jacques Hitier Gigognes Tables.
This set of 3 tables that are graduated in size – so that they may be stacked on top of one another – are called in English as Nesting Tables.

Background
By design, the 3 legs bring more stability than a standard 4-leg table.
With these characteristics, this table is meant to fit into smaller spaces to meet the design challenges of the Reconstruction period.
These tables were presented to the public in March 1953.
Since then there have been several ways to arrange the 3 tables depending on your space and taste. Some arrange them nested according to the original thoughts whereas others would prefer to spread them through space.
